So on September 22, 2014 I filed this complaint with the BBB:
The Jumping Jungle – They are now located in Johnson City, NY. It is the same owner, brian. I confirmed three times that they would not overbook and have parties at the same time as ours. The party before us left 20 minutes late and after I had to ask the parents to leave myself. I believe some of my child’s gifts may have walked out with that party also… Some creepy guy was walking around while the party was going on, and after seeing him I asked what he was doing. He claimed he was with the next party. He was there way too early and kept walking around. This led to serious questions about the security of the facility. The staff spent more time trying to give private gymnastic lessons for one child and showing off then actually making sure the kids were having fun. One child had their leg fall through a hole in one of the inflatables. I saw it myself and helped the child get up. The staff kept shutting down the bouncy houses. We had to ask multiple times for them to turn them back on. Half way through the party the owner Brian showed up and I told him the problems which he did nothing about. He did choose to tell me all about his political beliefs and ranted about the government. Another party showed up and one of their parents tried to chase the children from our party away from some of the inflatables (while the staff talked to a parent about gymnastics for 15 minutes). A parent was actually trying to separate children and tell them to leave. The staff shut down bouncy houses 20 minutes early also. On the way out one child said it was horrible, and before we left one child was crying. They over book, are under staffed, and their polices and equipment are horrible. I was warned not to use them but I gave them a chance. At one point the staff stopped the children from actually playing, so one of the staff could do back flips. It was a birthday party not a gymnastics exhibition… I am sure I could go on and provide details of the two staff members and even other issues that occurred but I am sure I have covered enough to warrant the conservative compensation in the form of a refund I have requested.
I am requesting a refund of $90.00 out of the $225.00 fee I paid to have a party at the facility on September 20th 2014. This is approx. 40% of the cost since we lost 40% of our time as detailed int he complaint above. They should refund all of my money as they ruined a moment in my child’s life that I cannot get back. Actually they should also buy her a gift since some of hers may have walked out with the party that would not leave. I am not asking them to go beyond the basic standard of law which is that they did not provide for full services during the time we contracted to utilize the facility. So I am only asking for a refund of 40%. What they do beyond that is up to them, and will determine how the follow up to all the reviews that have been written and will continue to be written, go.
